Many thanks to Justin Meyer from Jupiter IT Solutions for his beginner javascript walk-through for developers in September. This was a terrific session and if you are itching for more, check out Chicago Javascripters. http://www.meetup.com....
If you are a sole proprietor or a partner in a small firm, you may be up to your eyeballs in code or creative process. But how do you effectively sell your services? Join us October 13 at 7PM for a conversation with David Berg, Business Development Director for Merge Design & Interactive. David will talk about effective selling of design and development services for the web. He'll touch on ways to listen to potential clients and help them focus on good solutions. Come and learn more about your own value and how to communicate it clearly to your potential clients.
David is responsible for growing Merge's business and annual revenues. From developing internal marketing strategy and sales process to meeting new clients and acquiring accounts, he has an acute understanding of what it takes to solve new customer's business challenges and provide superior service that result in lasting business relationships. His emphasis is on Social Media and Online Marketing, Sales Process and Business Development, Business Strategy and Analysis and Operational Efficiency. Key clients include USG, Weber Stephen Products, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, DDB, CDW, Thermos, Grainger and HSBC.
We will be meeting at Boocoo Cultural Center, 1823 Church Street, Evanston 60201. There is a free parking lot across the street that belongs to Evanston Township High School that is open now that school is in session. Otherwise, there should be ample street parking along Dodge Avenue or Church Street. Like any semi-urban area, there have been crime reports in this neighborhood in the past. There is no need to be unduly alarmed... just use good sense as you come and go to your car.
Mark your calendars for some interesting upcoming sessions. We have a "virtual presentation" from Dan Cedarholm, author of "Bulletproof Web Design," on "10 essential web design guidelines." And we have Chris Coyier coming to talk about his favorite CSS tips and tricks.
Please extend the courtesy of changing your RSVP if you decide not to come. This will make space for someone else.
I'm going to cap the attendance at 40 this month and see what kind of a response we get. I look forward to seeing you in October.
