A big thank you to Dave Berg from Merge Design and Interactive for his great presentation on sales and marketing strategies for web designers/developers. Check out the "files" tab on this site for some of the resources Dave made available to us.
Good craftsmanship in web design is in the details; under the hood. Details translate into flexibility and adaptability. As new technologies and standards are made available, we have the ability to apply CSS enhancements to our web sites today. Join us for a video presentation, "Handcrafted CSS: More Bulletproof Web Design," by Dan Cedarholm, a designer with years of experience in building sites with Web standards. Web standards are the invisible details that set good web design apart from great web design. The presentation is chock full of examples that will inspire you to create reliable, flexible, bullet-proof designs.
We will be meeting at Boocoo Cultural Center, 1823 Church Street, Evanston 60201. There is a free parking lot across the street that belongs to Evanston Township High School that is open now that school is in session. Otherwise, there should be ample street parking along Dodge Avenue or Church Street. Like any semi-urban area, there have been crime reports in this neighborhood in the past. There is no need to be unduly alarmed... just use good sense as you come and go to your car.
Mark your calendars for some interesting upcoming sessions. We have Chris Coyier coming to talk about his favorite CSS tips and tricks in December and Marian Casey will come and talk about leveraging social networking sites in creating a web presence for clients in January (if I can get her...).
Please extend the courtesy of changing your RSVP if you decide not to come. This will make space for someone else.
I'm going to cap the attendance at 40 this month and see what kind of a response we get. I look forward to seeing you November 10.
