Thanks for your attendance at the inauguration of our "mentorship series." It was well worth the effort to come out in the cold! I know this information provided some valuable insight to those I spoke to. Thanks to Dennis Deacon, we have a good start.

There is plenty of opportunity for you to continue the conversation started last night. I encourage you to respond with questions you may still have or comments. Dennis will appreciate your feedback... good, indifferent or otherwise. Here's the link:

On February 10, we will continue our “mentorship series” with "Web Design Workflow: From Initiation to Final Design." We’ll take a look at planning a website; the goals for the website, the owning business or organization and the audience for the site. We’ll also look at competitive analysis. We’ll then look at creating personas to develop a better understanding of the site’s audience, wireframes to organize the page-level content, then creating the actual design in a graphic tool like Photoshop. Lastly, we’ll look at building, testing, then finally launching a site. At this point, there is no homework posted on the blog site, so just show up and be prepared to learn.

If you are not already subscribed to the Meetup.com discussion forum, please get yourself subscribed. The more people we have participating, the more likely it is that your questions will be answered.

See you in February at our regular location, Pick A Cup, 1813 Dempster Street, Evanston. In the meantime, stay warm!

Hello to the Mentors. I tried the simple HTML (very basic) tutorial which was a couple of lines to start with. In the browser (Firefox) it looked the same as how I had typed it in TextEdit on my mac. What did I do wrong?

    •  Looking forward to more
    •  Overall I thought the meeting was very good and informative.

This meeting was not as helpful to me as the first. I felt that we spent a lot of time on 'getting the project' which most of us in business for ourselves are already doing at some level and hurried through the more informative aspects of managing and delivering a web site project. I did learn some things which will be helpful at a much later date, however, I am not at the level to take on a web project now. I appreciate the knowledge and generosity of time and effort Dennis puts into his presentation, he is great!
    •  Great group. Lots of sharing of experiences. A great learning event.
    •  Dennis Deacon is a knowledgeable speaker. He was able to offer very sound best practices advice concerning the web development process.
