Another good turn out for the third in our mentorship series... Linda Ryder gave us a solid overview of how to build a page using CSS. Thank you Linda for sharing your expertise in showing us the basics of building a solid html page with CSS. Please check the "Message Board" and the "Files" for some promised follow up material... a CSS reset stylesheet and a discussion of ems verses pixels.

On April 14, we will continue our “mentorship series” with "Information Architecture." No you don’t have to be Daniel Burnham to become one. Information Architecture is a hot field and very important in the web design process. There are several great exercises that web designers can use to help better define the information architecture for a site. Join Dennis Deacon in an enlightening, entertaining and interactive session.

Dennis will send out an e-mail when there is material to review for the session at the Dreamweaver Meetup blog site (http://dwmeetup.wordp....

See you in April at our regular location, Pick A Cup, 1813 Dempster Street, Evanston. I will cap the attendance at 30 again this time. If you get "cut off" please attend anyway. Please extend the courtesy of changing your RSVP if you decide not to come. This will make space for someone else.

Spring is STILL coming (I think :-) Enjoy your March...

    •  Loved the topic and the presentation. Couple of quick feedback points 1) Would have loved having a slightly more structured format where members introduce themselves at the start 2) Time for networking would be great at future events 3) The presentation could have been slightly shorter.. there was a ton of good material covered though, so a little split on this Thanks for the time and effort to set it all up! •  Looks like attendees walked away with a deeper appreciation and understanding for this important part of the web design process.
    •  I thought the presentation on Information Architecture was very informative. It opened my eyes up to have clear and concise the navigation on a page needs to be.
    •  Dennis did an awesome job presenting the Information Architecture on the web.
    •  Dennis presented a very useful lesson. I think anyone would have learned something from the presentation, being a newbie like me or more experienced. Dennis put a lot of thought and effort into his presentation. His sharing of web design client interfacing stories were very helpful.
    •  I thought Dennis did a great job of presenting quite a lot of material, good examples. Well prepared. If forced to supply constructive criticism, I would suggest more brevity, and no need to go on about simple concepts. Perhaps an example of actual layers of navigation may have been interesting to see. Perhaps too unweildly to show...very good work covering the topic! Thank you, Dennis.
